What You Can Expect
We hire people based on their skills and availability, with preference given to people who have a disability AND possess the skills necessary to perform the work.
As a not-for-profit organization, we have no pockets to line by suppressing your wages. Our prices are set by contract, so gouging a lucrative customer is not possible either. Your wage will be negotiated with you at the start of your assignment and will remain the same throughout the term of your assignment. And in nearly all cases, working more than 40 hours in a week will not be permitted.
We have medical, dental and life insurance benefits that are available to all of our associates at your expense. You can opt in, or opt out at the time you begin working.
All of our jobs are in state offices, nearly all of which are in climate controlled buildings. And, all state offices have professionally managed safety committees who meet and review safety practices regularly. In all cases, you will be responsible for your own parking. Many state offices do not supply parking, but many of those are within the "Dillo" zone for free public transit from outer parking lots.
If you don’t have a bank account, we strongly encourage you to get one so your weekly paychecks can be deposited every Thursday night. Otherwise, you may be at the mercy of the US Postal Service. We hate it when a paycheck goes lost, but there’s little we can do. Once it’s lost in the Postal system it often takes over a week to replace it and the fees associated with it can mount up on you. Even a late paycheck, arriving on Saturday, or Monday can cause you untoward hardship. So get a bank account and get direct deposit.
Once you’ve successfully completed an assignment with us, we will do all we can to get you out on another assignment as quickly as possible. And once you’ve proven that you are indeed a Peak Performer, you will be sought out by our customers. They get to know you and the work you do, so they request you by name. And sometimes our customers want to hire you on their payroll and we encourage them to do so. With us, there is no additional “buy-out” or “conversion” fee. We’re happy to give you that opportunity to create lasting professional relationships. And, of course, if for some reason you happen to be in the market for a new job later, we will be happy to help you out again.
