Episode 4: Cindy Ciftcioglu – A Story of Animals and Advocacy

Meet Cindy Ciftcioglu, who grew up in Binghamton, New York, where she developed a love for animals and the simple joys of her hometown, like riding its many carousels as a child.Years later, Cindy faced challenges that would test her resilience: a lifelong breast cancer diagnosis and gastroparesis, a condition that causes stomach paralysis. She speaks openly about her journey, the struggles she’s faced, and the strategies she’s found to cope.

Through it all, Cindy knew she wanted to keep working, for her mental health, for her sense of purpose, and for the connections that come with being part of a team. That’s when Peak Performers stepped in, helping her secure a role as a Disability Determination Administrator with New York State Disability. Cindy shares how Peak has supported, advocated for, and cared for her in ways other staffing agencies never did.

Beyond her professional role, Cindy believes in always having something to look forward to. For her, that often means visiting Animal Adventure Park, where her llama, giraffe, and donkey friends bring joy and emotional support. It’s her go-to place for a boost of happiness on tough days.

Cindy’s story is a reminder that even in the face of chronic illness, life can still be filled with meaning, community, and reasons to smile.
