Meet Lorena Rojas, whose journey began in Zacatecas, Mexico, and continued in Austin, Texas, after her widowed mother brought her and her sisters to the U.S. in search of a better life. After high school, Lorena spent more than a decade building laptops and desktops—hands-on work she took enjoyed. Then, tragedy struck. A car accident claimed the life of her 17-year-old son, and Lorena was left to battle a grief no parent should have to endure. Despite the overwhelming pain and lingering depression, she returned to work.
